Micosoft will come after OS X server soon

Besides, Mac OS X is based on BSD. Not GNU.

    PHP CAPTCHA script

Yep. This one is the best, since it doesn't involve typing, and works even if your visitors are dyslexic or have difficulties reading ordinary captchas. http://research.microsoft.com/asirra/installation.aspx Yep, it's Micrsoft, but it actually works, and it's really good, even great!

Printer not found into the network

There is a page in Apple's knowledge base that might hold the answer to your problem: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301397 The most likely tip from that page is probably that the printer name can't be longer than 12 characters. If it's longer, the Printer Utility in Mac OS X...

Printer not found into the network

If you share the printer from your Mac instead, and turn on Windows sharing too, you'll be able to print from all your computers on the network, regardless of their operating system (i.e. Win/Mac OS/Linux).

    Quicktime MPEG Problems

Perian (http://perian.org/) solves many codec problems in Mac OS, comes highly recommended: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/perian.html Maybe it'll help in this case too, and it won't harm you to have it anyway, so...

    Safari not working with router

First: check that you have a working connection to the internet, by disconnecting the base station, and connecting the mini directly. Once you figure that out, you can connect the base station to your broadband connection. Next, use the Airport Administration application, and check that the...

Getting Outlook Express for OSX 10.4

I'd suggest that you use Entourage, it has more of the Exchange-functions that you're probaby using on the company mail server. I'd normally agree with Fryke and say "Use Mail.app, damn it!", but I'm getting old and soft...

Minium Requirements to upgrade from 9.2 to What?

Title sort of says it all. If you try to install OS X without upgrading the firmware you WILL fry the computer. Permanently. I've done it twice, once to a Blueberry and once to a graphite (iMac DV). Kind of sucks.

    Broken powerbook lid catch

You can still put the PowerBook to sleep and schlepp it around. Just open Terminal and type: sudo pmset -a lidwake 0 That's a zero at the end, not a capital "o". This makes sure that the PowerBook wont wake up until you press a button, or attach or detach a USB or FireWire device. I had to do...

    Opening vs Editing a document

Of course you can assign keyboard shortcuts to run Automator plugins and any other app you want. To assign shortcuts to regular apps you just open System Preferences and click "Keyboard and Mouse", and select the 3rd tab. You can choose app in a drop down menu, and then you write the name of the...

    postscript from quark

I think the problem is that your printer isn't a PostScript printer: instead of sending the PostScript part of the EPS, QXP simply sends the preview image instead. Not that it would help to send the PS part though, since the printer can't handle that anyway. Try the PDF detour, I'm pretty sure...

Funky drop shadow propblem in Indesign

Get rid of Suitcase. It's overpriced and under developed. I switched to Linotype FontExplorer X as soon as it became available and have never looked back. It's free, it works, and I've seen no bugs. And I use a _lot_ of fonts. Auto activation works perfectly in all applications I've tested...

    postscript from quark

Try exporting a PDF instead, and print that from Preview. The printer is not a PostScript printer, so it really isn't the printers fault, it's the printing system in QXP / Mac OS X that is acting up. You'll get the same problems in InDesign and Illustrator. The PDF detour solves that problem...
