Have any of the unix hackers been successful in munging the configure script for Midnight Commander to work? I know it requires glib, and that's not a problem.. but the configure script also coughs up another error: % ./configure loading cache ./config.cache checking host system type...

Yeah, now that I've got my copy of OS X finally, and now installed, that's the exact route I went. I created a couple symbolic links rather than mucking around with the fstab file(s).

Drop into a terminal and read the man pages for "mnt" and "fstab". All your questions should be answered. Also, you might want to check out some of the HOW-TO files on LDP (linux documentation project) on mounting partitions into your directory tree. Hope this helps. Still waiting for...

Just read on Apple's MacOSX page that the release version of OSX WILL include a copy of OS9.1 for classic mode.
