Gaming on an iMac / eMac?

I played StarCraft, Rainbox Six: Rogue Spear, The Sims (hah!), all on my old iMac Sage 450MHz with 512 RAM, all perfectly well. Right now I've got the TFT 700MHz with 786 RAM, I can run StrongHold wuite nicely (way better than my PC friends can, for the most part). This beast can do anything...

    Pinging in the terminal

Just in case you were perturbed by this because you couldn't stop it, in the terminal CONTROL-C stops almost anything: man reading, top, ping, etc.

    iTunes 3 Framerates

My frame rates have fallen over 60% to around 7, the max I could get, at any resolution or size, was 12. That's uncapped, using OpenGL on rougher but faster display... I've got an iMac TFT with 786 MB RAM and no other apps running for ***** sake. I'm really unimpessed with the...

cmd shift 4 - screen capture question

As far as I know, you can't. That key combination outputs the captured graphic directly to a file. In /Users/{username}/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist the only key available is AppleScreenShotFormat (which I have set to JPEG), but there doesn't seem to be anything like...

Using terminal to connect to remote server

This uses the more secure secure socket shell (SSH) application. If you just want to use plain old insecure telnet type telnet {hostname} but I would reccomend against this, since packet sniffers can eaisly monitor your connection on a LAN (interoffice or school) and get whatever you're typing...

    QT licensing

It would be nice if it were GNU but...that'll never happen. I agree with ElDiabloConCaca, but I'd charge less since I'm Canadian and our dollar is worth as much as your old Pro key

how man apps can you put in the dock

As many as you can comfortably see. I saw a screenshot of someone with a cinema display, his dock was about 1/4 inch  high and as wide as the screen. IMHO that's just nuts...

1 Firewire Drive 2 DIFFERENT Computers?

Unless you have a magic box, you can't connect the same device to two computers at the same time (to the best of my knowledge). Most drives have a daisy-chain pass-through, or in your case, it probably has a built-in IEEE 1394 hub. My advice is to connect the drive to your Mac and share it...

    Audio CD Mountng Problems

This problem happned to a friend of mine, and it was a bloody nightmare because their computer is a TFT 800MHz with no user accesible manual eject hole. I didn't want to try the trick of playing aorund with the release lever inside the drive. Their computer wouldn't boot at all, and started...

    Linux-based BBS

I'm looking at making my OS X BSD subsystem look a bit more like the old Renegade (or other dialup) style BBS systems. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good message board application for Linux that will work in Darwin. BTW in case this seems ambiguous, I do not mean one that parses out...

Did Apple get hacked with this one?

So you mean it shows up as a white file with a drive on your iDisk. Hmm I wonder what application would do that, because all my other DMGs display properly...
