    USB Earthmate GPS with TiPowerBook

I built it from the source and followed the instructions here: http://chrissnell.com/gpsdrive/ You can find the source files here as well as the instuctions, but I'm afraid you'll need to brush up on those UNIX skills to build it from source.

    USB Earthmate GPS with TiPowerBook

According to the Earthmate web page http://www.delorme.com/earthmate/default.asp It says it is "NMEA-compliant", but this may apply to the newer models. I believe it's NMEA compliant since NetStumber on my ThinkPad sees it as a NMEA 0183 device on COM6 running at 4800 bps.

    USB Earthmate GPS with TiPowerBook

The Earthmate does output NMEA signals according to the DeLorme doc's. "The new NMEA-compliant Earthmate GPS includes a convenient suction cup mount for secure in-vehicle positioning. " I already have the Earthmate which I use on my ThinkPad. I use the Street Altas 2003 on...

    The Screen Savers.

It's a decent show, and one of the hosts (Leo Laporte) uses an iBook. The show covers more Windoze stuff with limited coverage of Linux, and Mac stuff. All in all it's still interesting.

What do you dislike about linux the most?

I'm not sure companies can't put better security in their software if they really wanted to. I'm sure the primary reason is the "good old bottom line." It would cost more to produce better code. The most common security issue with software seems to be buffer overflows. They have been...

What do you dislike about linux the most?

Why wouldn't everyone want a secure system? Don't you think security should be a requirement in all systems? If systems came configured for maximum security, we'd all be better off. Users would have to enable the items they needed, instead of systems being configured by default with...

What's up with Germany, France and Belgium?

The UN already has a problem if they think giving Saddam more time will change anything. He has done nothing for the last 10+ years to indicate his willingness to get rid of WMD. I guess you could ask the Kurds if they think Saddam has no WMD. When diplomacy fails ( and 10+ years should be...
