Well, uh, Microsoft introduced the Taskbar with Windows '95... Not that it changed significantly or anything, but it's been around. And, isn't your "current application" going to be viewable somewhere around your screen? It shouldn't be minimized if you're calling it a current application?

The Dock seems to have some nice features, however i don't own a mac yet (working on it..) so i wouldn't really know much about how it operates. Does OSX still have the menu on the right side of the menu bar that older versions of the OS had for application switching? Was it called the finder...

What Zeigan was referring to are the programs that run in the background, their icons are usually in the System Tray, which is next to the clock, in the taskbar... For example, i have MSN messenger, AIM, Kazaa, Norton, and a few other things running in the background...if you get too much...

No matter that this machine was obviously designed with some apple computer in mind, if its priced right, it will sell, and sell, and sell some more. MS doesn't care about copying, and etc, they just want the cash. The only thing marginally ok-looking about this computer is the display..

I have a question about the whole two-button-mouse-thing... Yeah, you can hook up a two button mouse, but what does the other button do, then? FOr example, in Windows it opens the little...useful application tasks menu..which i enjoy.. Does OSX have this same menu? I assume not..but...

The programs that you mentioned are probably the ones i would be using alot. I would purchase the 1299 iBook...so it would have an 800 MHZ and a 16MB video card...though i don't really know the difference in the video card... One thing that pisses me off..is you can't get a superdrive...

After serious consideration about how i will be needing another laptop computer in 3 years for college, i see no point in buying an iMac... A cheap little iBook would probably work for now... But, how fast is a 800MHZ G3? It just sounds so slow...

On a slightly-off-topic note... I download alot of music from new artists that i am interested in, and usually end up purchasing one or quite a few of their records... If the record company had any intelligence...they would want the artist's music to be shared so people can HEAR it...

For us under-informed people.../ non mac users Who makes the G4 processor and why can't it keep up with the current clock speeds?

When i upgraded to XP i had it reformat and install clean. And i had purchased the upgrade...you just had to put in the 98 cd during the installation..

Last time I checked...gateway had the highest repair history... Which explains the cheap pricing...
