Has anybody yet tried the new VPC 5 version on his Mac wit OS X? I tried the VPC 4 testdrive on OS X 10.1.1 on my 500 MHz iMac, and it wuz so slow that it wuz even almost impossible to tell whether win95 had a hang up or whether it wuz still runnin :D Ill only upgrade if the speed in VPC5...

Maybe the slowness of most OS X Browsers is also caused by the font antialiasing and by the double buffered windows. Maybe its faster when font antialiasing is switched off. I bet, m$ windows is just so fast because there ain't no font antialiasing :D

My current uptime of OS X 10.1.1 is 7 days, 18:26 The only thing that drives me crazy is the fear, that my mac will not boot up again if i shut it down. Thats y i've got to restart sometimes, just to check that everythings ok :)

Myself also once tried to get rid of all the font antialiasing in OS X. So I went to the preferences panel and set the antialiasing not to be used for fonts under the size of 72 (? can't exactly remember the size at the moment). Its sometimes kinda funny whut Mac Fans talk about in Forums. Other ppl talk about how they can get more out of their grey pc boxes and how to remove the newest internet flooding virus from their pcs, Mac users talk about how to change the startup sound of their machines.... pretty funny :)

Yeah, this JBuilder problem is kinda weird. When I click on "Search" to find words inside a sourcecode, I can type the brackets using the standard keys. They only won't work inside the sourcecode editor :( I'd rather have them not work inside the search dialoge then in the editor...but well...

Its not about windows resizing keeping us away from working. Its about Mac OS X window resizing looking ugly, because it is so slow. Why do we all have Macs? Not just because they have faster processors, but also because they look nice and the have a nice OS. Thats y most Mac users complain...

Hm I don't think so. iTunes helper wuznt there in the startup items before I updated iTunes to iTunes V2. Anyways iTunes started everytime I inserted a CD into my drive. So I guess iTunes helper has nothing to do with the startup of iTunes.

Pretty useful

It has a lot to do with all the eye candy, believe me! Just think of antialiased fonts (they have to be re-antialiased on every window redraw), or what about semi-transparent Finder Icons.... etc. Windows doesn't need to do all this stuff when resizing a window. There are no antialiased...
