Greener IT - also applies to peripherals

I am writing concerning what is generally called Greener IT. I know that Apple has made efforts and this is good. Now maybe the turn should be for Harman Kardon who, sometime ago, sold me some their Soundsticks audio speakers. Recently, the transformer died, and of course, Harman Kardon had...

Guess I must be the only person that has a MacBookAir.... Here is some more after a few days of professional and personal use. Good I have used MacBook Pro's and MacBooks in Gn and Intel flavours. The Air is surprisingly cooler than the rest. Its soo light it does not pain the laps...

    Air

Hi, Just unboxed my macbookair. Its wieght is absolutely surprising. Keep it on your lap no problem. It does heat but less than a macbookpro G4. It is a nice little marvel of technology. The touch options on the trackpad a pleasure to use. Downsides: 1. the external battery indicatory is...

Question about Applecare and iMac servicing

Just as a hunch... I had something very similar to what you detail, and your machine being second-hand this could be a cause. You may want to check. In my case the memory sticks in the iMac were not identical (I did the purchasing myself and put them in) so iMac started being erratic. Now...

    MacSoft may lose its market

I say "MacSoft" because I don't know how other game editors manage licensing. MacSoft, in many games, uses the fact that you have "physical access" to the game DVD as a pre-requisite to start the game. Although an outright ANNOYANCE, I can live with it because I purchase my games, software...

    Serous Numbers doubts...

As already mentionned by others, I also noticed many functions that make Excel essential for me (and my business) such as pivot tables and conditional count/totals are missing. A real nuissance.

New to OS Virtualization, what's best to use?

I have tried VMware Fusion as per info that trial was free on this thread) here is some comparison with Parallels v2. 1. VMware is definitely more sexy in how you interact with it. Examples: VMware : drag and drop directly from OSX to windows Parallels : use a shared folder to swap files...

could i put a pay and go 02 sim card inside an iphone?

I answered this because the main issue with iPhone is ensuring your contract gives you unlimited use of data-access to the web. Because even if it "does work" and you pay as you use the data-access, the costs of this may will quickly exceed those of the iPhone. So if you want to look fancy...

New to OS Virtualization, what's best to use?

I have not tried VMfusion but am glad to hear a trial version is available. I spent money on Parallels (v 2.0) and it runs perfectly. The only inconvenience I found is that the cloning of machines does not allow for attribution of a name that is reflected in the file name (the machines name...

    Time machine issue!

I don't see the full extent of the question either Zoranb. You may wish to be a little more detailed and provide information that for you may seem obvious but for us people out on the web, may not be so obvious. Based on the facts you indicate, I agree to fryke's answer : "No"

could i put a pay and go 02 sim card inside an iphone?

It should work. But be aware that the iPhone has a tendancy of connecting to the web regularly. If you don't have those contracts that provide an unlimited data-access to the web, you may find that your pay&go will be quickly insufficient.

to use my new $200 ipod i need to buy a $130 operating system?

I think we all live these "minimum" requirements issues with great frustration. After all when we buy we are happy and looking forwards to some fun. So small text, like Apple uses - and other too - is a real frustration. However, concerning the OSX version, with the recent availability of 10.5...
