to import the pics best way IMO is to use the "file" > add to library function (cmd-o)

Could be the ram if it's not installed in pairs and its for another kind of G5 you could double check with these specs also is the ram correctly recognised by system profiler ? if so then the problem should be somewhere else.

iTunes files should be in your Music folder, copy iTUNES music and keep the rest on the HD but i'm not sure you'll then be able to listen to them from a DVD it works fine from an external HD once you tell itunes where to locate the library check preferences > advanced > general >Itunes Music...

how did you try to import the pictures ? is it with File > add to library ? which version of iPhoto, OS and mac are you using ? infos could help to sort you out

a quick suggestion : did you try deleting the HP preference folder ? and have a look here try also the search feature of this forum you might find an answer within the results :)

iPhoto obviously is easy and does provide a few tweaks to pictures (red eye, crop, converting to B&W or sepia etc..) but you need to buy the all iLife suite. A little more sophisticated and not too expensive look into this shareware graphic converter click here
