The obligation of humankind to preserve nature

Some very interesting points nkuvu, it's not often I think so much about my views on this matter. I'll try and answer them: I didn't mean kill lizards for no reason other than because they would kill us if they could. I just think that if there would be an advantage to my killing a lizard, say...

The obligation of humankind to preserve nature

Interesting points all of you. My justification for the point of view I expressed in the first post is as follows:     Regardless of what PETA might have us believe, most mammals, especially the more intelligent ones, aren’t very nice when judged by human morality...

The obligation of humankind to preserve nature

OK, random topic, but I'd be interested to know what you peeps think about humankind’s obligations to nature. Do animals have an intrinsic value, independent of any benefit humans derive from them? Do we have any duty to preserve a species because future generations may...

    How-to: Be Happy

S**t- we're at 7 billion already? I loose count (it was 6 billion last time I checked, not too long ago. Why do people still talk about breeding like rabbits - I think we've long surpassed them. More Quotes, but I can't rember who from: "Truely, Money can't buy happiness, but it can make...

    Dynamic Image Editing?

Like this one? It's an aqua button, but the image behind the text is variable. It's on Marc Liyanage's site, which is where I get all my PHP / MySQL binaries Bernie :o)

    Chimera 0.2 is out!

OK, this seemed as good a place as any to mention that I found an Easter egg on the Chimera site. Go to the site, and hit Apple-a to select all text. This reveals something on the orange strip below the logo at the top, which isn't normally visible... Bernie :o)

    Avatar factory

Well you didn't think I used my natural airbrushing talent did you ? ;o) Aquatint rocks, and is kind of free. Although I try to register Shareware that I use, I only use aquatint for messing around with people's avatars in my coffee break, so don't feel the need to register it. If I used it...

How about an option for "Hey, that's a good way to bring attention to your site - Wish I'd thought of it first but now if I did it it'd just look like copycat-ing" ;o) Bernie :o)

How to make your website PC-Proof

OK, small update to fix issues and incorporate 2bling's suggestion <script language="javascript"> //Bernie's anti PC script. var PC_only = true // set to false to work on all systems, e.g. for testing on a mac var reps = 10 // number of alerts to show var message = "Get a...

    Open-mindedness

Descartes is down the pub with his mate Derrick, who says "fancy another pint?" The somewhat inebriated Descartes replies "I think not" and disappears... OK, now to answer Matt's original post: My 2 pennies Sterling: By capitalizing "The Truth", I assume you are referring to a high and...

How to make your website PC-Proof

How to make your website PC-Proof

Very good point 2Blings - we must protect the mac faithful PC users, and those mac users who are unfortunate enough to have to use a PC at work. In that case, change the lines: alert("Have some bits of advice...") for (i=1;i<reps;i++) { alert("Bit of advice number "+i+": "+message) }...

How to make your website PC-Proof

OK, I just had some fun because I was bored. Here's a (slightly) nicer thing to do with PC users. It show's a defined number of alert boxes to PC users, with a message (currently 10 alerts, showing "Get a Macintosh!"). It then optionally redirects the user to a url, currently the apple site...

Ha! MUG posted to Apple's Mac OS X Downloads page!

Yup, I have all of them. However, I have no preferences file in the library forder (both MacHD/Library, and Home/Library) perhaps that is the problem? Have you tested this on Dual processor machines? that's the only difference I can think of that would make my computer odd. Bernie :o)
