Power a Laptop from an RV?

The Apple Store has several 12v adapters on their website, including the Lind unit, an APC and a Kensington. I'd give you a link, but the Apple store is notorious for creating big ugly single-use URLs for specific product pages. Look under "mobile gear".

    Why Are Some DVD's uncopyable?

Well, one possibility is, single-layer DVD-Rs simply have less storage capacity than dual layer discs do. Either way, it pains me to hear that you have copied enough DVDs to have detected such a pattern. This board isn't a haven for video pirates. :( If the discs you're copying aren't...

    Exploding toads

It sounds like it's happening so quickly - and violently - I'd almost wonder if it isn't a chemical reaction rather than an infection. I'm sure somebody is already testing the pond for chemical contaminants.

How Do I Make a Disc Image?

You can create disk images using Apple's Disk Utility. It will let you create an image from an existing volume, or create a blank, read-write image and then you can use Finder to add files to it.

    Can't submit polls. I'm a contributor.

Well, for me it works if I create a new thread (can't make a poll in a reply, AFAIK) and scroll all the way to the bottom of the form. That is, scroll the browser to the bottom of the thread-starter web page, NOT just the bottom of the text-edit box. There I see several form controls for...

    New Ties

Two different novels I've read recently have speculated that one day the internet (or some faster, more complex descendant of the internet) will become self-aware. One novel imagined the new AI being mankind's friend, the other imagined the AI viewing us as dim-witted children that it has to...

    Exploding toads

Yeah, I saw the exploding toad story. Echh. If they figure out how it's happening, they may be able to sell the secret to Australia. From what I hear, cane toads (an imported species) are a huge problem there.

Apple angry about Steve Jobs biography

True, but the two are colliding here. Note that Apple is ejecting all books by that publisher from their Apple stores. John Wiley & Sons publish, among other things: o CliffsNotes™ o For Dummies® o Frommer's® o The Unofficial Guide®

    OMG!!!!1 WhAt A H@x0r!!1!!11

The whole story reminds me of a Looney Toon; the one where Elmer Fudd sticks his shotgun into Bugs' rabbit hole, and the barrel emerges from a knothole on a nearby tree & points at Elmer's head. :D

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=581&e=1&u=/nm/20050427/tc_nm/tech_nokia_launches_dc I dunno, what do you think of a phone is also, in effect, an iPod Mini? Think this is a type of device Apple should consider?

mac mini and Bluetooth Keyboard - am I really this screwed?

According to Apple's online support, there does not appear to be any way to configure a Mac to use a BT keyboard unless you initially have access to a USB keyboard. So now I'm wondering - how did you get it working the FIRST time? You may have no other option but to borrow a USB keyboard...
