What is wrong - i hate my new macbook

Windows 2000 works fine, but anything older is trickier because you need a bootable floppy image - Win98 CDs aren't bootable. It's certainly possible, it's been discussed on the Parallels support forum.

Saving corel draw files from vista using parallels

The fact that OSX thinks it knows what a CDR file is won't affect how Corel Draw in Windows sees it - there's no connection between the two in that respect. If Corel in Parallels is seeing the file as read-only then this is because of something else going on, not because of OSX's opinion of the...

What is wrong - i hate my new macbook

Are you trying to boot with an Office installation CD? Or have you got Windows already installed within Parallels? Office CDs aren't bootable. The computer isn't causing the problem. I use Parallels with WindowXP, Win2K and SUSE Linux without problems.

    Why does Finder SUCK???

With certain aspects I agree, but with regard to features like Spotlight simply not working properly, or as advertised, I think it's up to Apple to fix them. Path Finder is very good, and I intend buying a license too. It's great for those times when Finder can't cut it!

    Why does Finder SUCK???

Spotlight would be useful - but by NO MEANS a Finder replacement - if it actually found files you search for, but it doesn't. It misses files, and often shows me results from way outside the folder I'm looking at - that's why its counter-intuitive. To be fair, Windows Explorer does exactly the...

    Why does Finder SUCK???

Path Finder looks nice, downloading it now. Finder just doesn't do enough, and what it does it does erratically and inconsistently. No Tree view? Changing view between columns, icons and list whenever it feels like it? Searching for files I know are there doesn't find them? Toolbar only...

    Why does Finder SUCK???

That explains why I can never find all "thumbs.db" files when copying Windows folders over - the Search doesn't work. I agree with Mikuro, Finder is counter-intuitive, inconsistent, and inappropriately-named. Windows Explorer is the same - why is one of the most important OS functions...

    Knoppix

I was trying to set up a Parallels VM for Fedora Core using the DVD that came with the book Linux Bible, which contains various different distros including Knoppix Live. When I rebooted the iMac it booted from the DVD, so I selected the Knoppix Live option for a laugh just to see what happened...

Hissing, popping from power adapter, macbook

The power supply /may/ be affected by how hard the processor is working. I'd just get a replacement, as a noisy PSU is probably on the way out, in my experience.

Imac (intel) USB keyboard repeats letters

I get this on the Apple keyboard too - it seems to be an issue with certain typing styles and that keyboard. I'm now using a Logitech DiNovo Bluetooth without any problems (well, none other than my poor typing ability).

    binding functions to the mouse?

I can't answer your mouse question, but I can tell you that the answer to your final question is no. I would not expect any PC DVD application to open an iDVD project, any more than I'd expect Windows DVD applications to open each others' projects. There isn't a standard for that kind of file.

I was unsure about this, too, but after playing with Expose for a while - just squeezing the mouse to activate it - it becomes second nature.

    What Changed You???

Hi, I just joined here, I'd be more than happy to explain my switch. I spent over two hours creating a new Windows XP partition for use as a Windows/Internet development drive. Once I got it up and running, nothing worked - no USB ports, it even got the time wrong. On a new, freshly installed...
