    Thanks again, Bob. Well… Notifications and Sounds are both turned off. But… went into word and typed 'ssn <space>' to check. And the voices says 'oops' Arrggghhh. Is Bill Gates getting back at me because I dumped my Microsoft stock?

    Thanks Bob. The odd thing is that Office Notifications are turned on but sounds have been turned off. One other thing: Preferences (underneath 'Turn On/Off sounds") is greyed out. Perhaps I need to trash the existing Office Notifications and start anew? Whadya think?
