Thanks - the mouse cable is fine... works on other machines and other mice have same problem on iBook. Mouse zoom already gone. No better. Have now trashed system preferences - hopefully ok. Also recently refusing to sleep - immediately wakes when slept.

Thanks. And no, not wireless - plain ol' corded. 'twas fine until the most recent Panther update. I seem to remember installing mousezoom ages back (it's a machine I rarely now use) so perhaps that's the issue.

Toast is current and DragonBurn an earlier version. And 'recent update' shouldn't cause some to be fine and not others. This problem is specific to certain playlists. If using Toast for the mp3->aiff conversion, the Toast burn is fine. Strange.

Odd and intermittent problem when burning audio cds with Toast and DragonBurn. I use iTunes to convert from mp3 to aiff and then either save playlist and import into DragonBurn or drag-and-drop into Toast. Then set track gap to zero. (My LaCie Firewire burner won't work with iTunes unless...

Regrettably looking for alternative to iTunes. Unless I set a 2 sec track gap, it won't burn audio with my new LaCie d2 Firewire cd burner. I don't want the gap as it clearly fouls album flow (example: the live albums I copy for use in the car). What else has the ease and flexibility of...

Setting track gap to 2 secs solves the problem. Not useful though - unwanted gap would foul smooth play of live and other albums.
