Just bought LaCie d2 Firewire cd burner. Won't work with iTunes 4 - shows as 'available' but refuses to burn. Works fine with Toast (which I don't like because of the default 2sec gap between tracks - which I keep forgetting to change before burning.) Suggestions appreciated. Please and thanks.

Thanks. Didn't find 'network' - so successfully rebooted from hd. I shall retry after weekend when I have a firewire cable.

Thanks. If, having selected 'network' and it can't find it - will it 'eventually' boot from the HD? As it won't read cds - the option of booting from that is gone - and hence I don't want to be stuck with a mac that won't boot. Just as I can force boot from cd by holding down the c key -...

G3 Imac with failing cdrw drive. Need to run Disk Warrior etc from cd. Can't. Won't read. Can I boot iMac from iBook - and then run the DW already installed on iMac... which should be ok as it's not trying to fix the boot volume? I believe I could do it from firewire - if I could find...

When browsing with safari, I frequently get this message... 'safari wants access to keychain "[username]". Please enter your keychain password or phrase.' On dismissing the alert, it immediately re-appears then vanishes having been dismissed again. Why does it appear? And how do I stop it?

The cdrw drive on our snow iMac has failed - won't write and now struggling to read. If I buy an external firewire cdrw, will the mac boot from it for discs like Norton, system re-installs etc? Advice appreciated. Please and thanks.

Thanks. Not running panther. Just Jag. Norton showed bundle bit error with memory management - so fixed and then solved. Re-occured today. iPulse shows navx active on memory swap... zero page ins and 260-450 faults. I've no idea what this means.

One of our iMacs has developed the habit of 'being continuously active' unless it's put to sleep. The hd chatters away - seemingly reading/writing/plotting word domination - even when everything is quit. Advice appreciated. Please and thanks.

One of our Macs has an odd problem with Exporer 5.2.2 on OSX 10.2.8. Popups open with just the title+traffic light bar - nought else. Nothing in the 'view' menu has any effect. The other Mac behaves as it should. Suggestions appreciated.
