Time zones are dumb (a PHP headache)

This wasn't even in the right forum. I do apologize. Anyway, I've solved the problem! :) putenv("TZ=US/Central"); Obviously, you can put whatever time zone you'd like in there.

    Command+tab more intelligent?

I don't really remember how 10.2 does it (I use LiteSwitch) but doesn't it just switch in the order of which app was used last? What would you want it to do? Slightly related... I wish Apple'd bring back application level windowing. It seems a little ridiculous to be using one app, while...

    My new site's template...opinions?

Yeah, that blue makes me want to die. :) Maybe just tone it down a bit. I don't really mind the RYB scheme, but jeeebus, that's bright!

Time zones are dumb (a PHP headache)

So I just got this nice new server with a domain name and everything, which rules because I used to host my site off a PowerBook and it occasionally woke me up at night. The trouble is that The new server is in Asia (I think maybe Hong Kong, but I'm no good at remembering things) and PHP's...

    pc standard for audio chat?

So wait, when iChat goes 1.0, its audio/video features will only be compatible with other iChat users? Why wouldn't they just use the protocol that's already built into AIM? I don't know anybody else who uses iChat... :(

    82% use Macs...

Funny thing, my band went into a relatively nice (read: expensive) recording studio a short while ago and they recorded us with, of all things, BeOS. Mastering was done on Windows. Of course, our CD sounds like total crap, but I have a feeling that might be our fault. :)

    Lexus' World On A String

Hahaha, I knew it was one of those fancy cars. It's really a classy lil' tune. Don't hate! :)

    Apple is spreading applications

The Newton OS, which was RAM-based instead of hard drive-based, was incredibly good at this kind of integration. Every app knew what what was going on in every other app. I think Windows Longhorn is somehow going to be trying something similar. Should be interesting, at least.

    Lexus' World On A String

Might anyone here know who's playing I've Got The World On A String on that new Lexus commercial? Sounds like a very cool song, but the only versions I can find are like, big band jazz. The one in the commercial is kinda minimal. I don't really know what you'd call that kind of music. Any...

    Apple Soundtrack

It is entirely possible to record your own music. Just plug in a mic and hit the record button and record away. I'm getting a bit of latency with my iMic, but it's nothing that can't be fixed with a bit of nudging. It doesn't have to be canned at all. Of course, if canned is what you're...

Aren't Apache, PHP, and MySQL available for Windows?

    Apple Soundtrack

Soundtrack is the only audio sequencing app I've ever been able to actually understand. There's like, no learning curve. The demo videos on Apple.com pretty much show it all. I love it. And now I can buy it. :)

Yes! Soundtrack will be released as a seperate product!

Oh sweet! I've been using Soundtrack (a naughty copy, yes) for the past couple days and it is one extremely sweet app. I'm not an audio guy, so I don't know if I'll pay $300 for it, but I have been hoping they release it on its own! :)

How do you figure? I'v never used Samba and I've got .DS_Store files everywhere. Clever idea, a folder action...!

    protocol Helpers (yes, AGAIN)

Check out More Internet... http://www.monkeyfood.com/software/moreInternet/ I'm not sure it's quite finished yet, but it currently allows you to edit the protocol helpers. The interface is a lil' weird, but it gets the job done. I'll spare y'all my opinions on its interface to be polite. :)

How to make iChat use USB cameras...

Isn't forcing video down a USB cable a Bad Idea™ anyway though? I mean even if it does work, wouldn't the quality be too bad to be worth the hassle?

    Brushed metal initiative

Themes are available for OS X, yeah, but no matter how well done they are, they're all simply hacks of Aqua. :( Max's themes ( http://homepage.mac.com/max_08/ ) are indeed some of the very best. I'm running Brushed right now. Max says that themes are possible in Panther, but I think they...

Apple need to do more to promote gaming

I still don't understand why gaming people use computers to play video games instead of consoles. I mean, consoles were built with the sole intention of running games. Aren't they really the best choice?

    Brushed metal initiative

A quote? No, I don't see why I'd have a quote from anyone. But do you see theme support in OS X? Anyone else miss Kaleidoscope lately?
