    New mac...which one?

17" Powerbooks are a total jipp. That's right...I said it  Think of it this way: 1.8 ghz G5 w/ 17" Apple LCD monitor for about same price as 17" 1 ghz G4 powerbook. Again, if you can wait...I think you should. If you can't, I'd almost look into getting a used computer and...

:( Sucks. I need to get to a MLS game. Huge fan and all. Anyway...I'd post a pic here ( -- ) if I had something to post to stay on topic.

    New mac...which one?

I'd wait for the dual G5 desktop. Think of the power....and come next January you'll be very glad you waited those extra two-three months during the summer.

    I'm a pirate, but I don't want to be

Celeborn is correct in that creating a larger user-base has the potential to create future sales. Many bands that are just starting out give their CDs away for free to try to get their music heard. In a way, installing a pirated copy of software is like that. Sadly, many people will not...

Got my far share of comments.

I'm truely convinced that Apple's reputation is being dramatically tarnished by their settups at schools. They can do a double-right if they start putting time and effort into maintaining these labs: make people more efficient AND advertising their systems to students by having them work as...

Jason's Daily Pic Thread! (Big pictures - not 56k modem friendly)

Serious Giaguara? What's the point of going to a game if they're going to kick me out within 20 minutes? Illinois is becoming wayyyy too censored. Anyway, grrr.

    What is this person thinking?

Usually credit cards have buyer protection services to protect people who's cards have been stolen and used. In a case like this, I'm not sure they'd protect somebody from themself if they were dumb enough to buy into this scam ;)

    i problems

I never really minded blood samples too much. After seeing how the eye-surgery procedure is done...I think I'd be too scared to do it. At least it doesn't hurt too much. *Shudder*

    The Funnies Thing Ever (Maybe)

The second post is the funniest thing I've ever seen. Glasses, Wal-Mart wardrobe, and bewilderment at how to get bras off: all in a cyber session.

Got my far share of comments.

Well Macs at schools do suck usually just because they're locked up/not set up correctly. I sit down at a Mac at my school and the dock is on full magnification. Usesless and obstructive, makes the computer hard to use. Then I try to get on the internet, only to find that it's locked by...

    Oh this is really bad!

You need to update the firmware on any iMac DV system before (or even after) using OS X on it. Apple's 4.1.9 update is what you'll need to use. See the following and install through OS9 and your computer should resume working perfectly. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75130

Does anyone else's iMac have a crooked screen?

My old iMac was crooked. I just lived with it though. It was a widely acknowledged problem with the 15" iMacs...I didn't know it was also present in the 17" systems though.

Michigan Avenue Apple Store opening today

What you're seeing, Toast, is a bunch of COMPUTER NERDS who spend an inordinate amount of time sitting and snacking. I honestly hope that one picture- displaying people that are unlikely to excercise enough- doesn't really make you generalize a country. Nobody's that gullible. If you were...

what kind of memory do i need?

By "Model Number" I believe Cheryl is referring to the "PC2700." I've had great success by going to www.crucial.com and doing their "memory finder" service to match my system to it's specific memory.
