    Apple's new iMac 24"

The only bummer about this (IMO) is that they don't offer a "glossy" display option on the 24" iMac. Other than that, this rocks!

Who is waiting photoshop cs2 universal?

Spring of 2007 is the official release plan (according to Adobe). Probably not a coincidence that Leapard will ship around the same time.

The Mac Pro is here... not so impressive?

All specs aside, I sure like the new sales model of offering only one base configuration and letting the buyer add in or take out what he or she wants. I wasn't happy about the case design staying the same. I was hoping for something a little smaller and quite frankly, better looking. But in...

    Illustrator CS2 Links Palette Problem

Does the problem occur if you save the file as a native .ai file (Illustrator format)?

All indesign stories to word for translation

I guess I left out the part where when you get the file back, you just re-link the text files just as you would a graphic.

quad G5 won't boot up: fans are going full-blast?

Well first of all you need to get the machine out of the "hot room." The G5 runs extremely hot on its own, and the sensors are extremely sensitive. Once you do that, turn it off and let it cool down. Then, start up from the install CD by holding the C key down (if you can't get the Mac to start...

    HELP!! Partition Deletion

You can try disk recovery software (don't install it, just run from the CD/DVD) or send the drive off to a data recovery center where you'll pay an obscene amount of money to recover the data. Either way, you will lose a good portion of the data anyway and of the remaining files recoverd...

All indesign stories to word for translation

The simple solution is to just export as text (Command + E) and keep your preferences in ID set to "Create Links when placing text and spreadsheet files"

    FontExplorer vs Illustrator CS argh!

I refuse to put my faith into something that when unplugged is nothing more than a really expensive brick.

    Where can I get word?

Your computer WILL run Tiger (10.4), but it's going to run it quite slowly. Panther won't run much better. You need more RAM and a larger hard drive or you're going to be extremely unhappy with the performance of the machine.

Spring loaded @ bottom right hand corner of dock???

It was simply a Web link file that leads to a page on the Apple Web site. Kind of like an alias to a bookmark for your Web browser. When you drag something off the dock, you aren't actually "removing" it from you computer, just removing it from your dock. Burried somewhere in a deep dark corner...

    Program for viewing photos?

That's odd, my activity viewer doesn't even show it as being opened.

    FontExplorer vs Illustrator CS argh!

You're trying to apply common sense and reason to font management in OSX. Do you see the problem with that? ;)

    Program for viewing photos?

If you're using OSX 10.4, you can select all the photos you want to view in a folder and right click on any one of them and select Slideshow from the contextual menu. This will not "open" any app, but display the photos on screen with forward/backward buttons and a "contact sheet" option as well.

    Desktop Pictures

You can do what you want, but you will need OSX Developer's Tools installed (which came on the OSX install DVD) or at the very least, have TextEdit. Here is the solution as provided by somebody somewhere that I don't remember (but I saved a text clipping of it a long time ago). The Desktop...

It's more likely that you have a rogue font installed and FEX is crashing when it loads.

    Saving my Mail Stuff

Yes you can. Go to your Home/Library folder and backup the "Mail" folder (which contains all your email, rules, etc.). Then go to your Home/Library/Preferences folder and backup any com.apple.mail preferences (which usually contain nothing more than your application prefs and mail account info).

Diablo 2 - Installation on MacBook

maybe it simply isn't compatible with the Intel Macs. In any case, try making a disc image of the CD/DVD and then mount it with DiskUtility and install from the desktop.
