    um kingston is considered value ram in the PC world... Crucial has way better quality.. get PC133 SDRAM2-2-2 (2ns) or CL2 as its known... a 512MB chip from crucial should be less than 100$.... other good brands are Micron and Samsung... try www.pricewatch.com as well..

    bin file on desktop kills finder

    I had a simalar problem in windows XP... go to the problem folder and view the hidden files, delete them and then open the window again. The finder "should" rebuild the hidden files... of course I havent tried this on a mac or unix for that matter, but Im almost positive a corrupt ".dll" type...

    whats the point? you have everything on a powerbook.... network, usb, firewire... Im sure most audio stuff works with X, or WILL be working with X soon... Pro Tools has just migrated, as will many other apps/devices...

    using Jaguar on both machines or just one should be very easy to set up Airport communications. In Jaguar, click on settings, and go to netowrk settings... now click the Airport tab and make sure the "allow this computer to make networks" its checked... now go to the airport signal button on...

    buy a pc... you think Im kidding, but if you want to play games on a cheap system, you could build a 1Ghz AMD system with a geforce 3 for under 800$.... I hate to say it but macs, while keeping their lifespan long, cannont play the newest and greatest games after a couple of years....

    I have a quasi-dilemma...

    pc motherboard? nForce 2 should be an amazing deal, if you can't wait, the KT400 chipset is pretty decent (AMD anyways). For a p4 the i845 motherboard is far superior to any other.... I dont think you can buy an apple motherboard....

    ftp software between two server

    that wont work, you mounted the "drive" so you would first download the stuff from the mounted drive to your physical HD, then your ftp client would upload it to the other server, thus defeting the purpose... telnet is the only way this can work....

    Getting OSX talking to a Windows PC

    there is many ways to do this. go to system preferences, sharing, and just click the windows file sharing box. then on your windows machine, type the //ip.of.your.mac/NAMEofmac and thats it... easy to see your windows machine, from the finder, go to the go menu and click connect to server...
