I have read a few articles that say bsd is more secure but linux is only less secure for the same reason windows is and thats a much higher user base. there are probably 25-30 linux users for every bsd user so there are less people to figure out exploits. no computer with any os is 100% secure...

the G5 chip itself is not much faster than a G4 mhz for mhz. its the G5 bus/logic board architecture that really speeds it up. if you could put a G4 cpu on a G5 board I bet the G4 wouldn't be much slower.

the logic board problem is only on the white G3 ibooks. clamshell and G4 ibooks have no issues like that.

doesn't linux legally have to be free? the only time you should ever pay for linux is if you buy the disks with a manual. downloading has always been free. this is very odd and I want to keep an eye on what happens with this.

I think mac cpu upgrades are just as logical as x86 systems if not more. I upgraded from a G3 350 to a G4 500 cpu and it was well worth it since I use a few altivec apps.
