DVR-108 from Pioneer suitable for g4?

I have a 107 in my B&W and it works perfect. only complaint about pioneer dvr drives is kinda slow seek times. other than that they are perfect and you will love it. bobw: reports on xlr8yourmac say patchburn makes the 108 work fine in 10.3.3 and up.

    Apple Store in Toronto

Vancouver is a huge shopping city. an apple store would do very well here. many stores are here that you only find elsewhere in places like NYC, Paris, London, SanFran etc. There is a lot of money to be had here by any company that offers higher end stuff like apple. metro Van. is 3 million+

The OS X interface is starting to really get under my skin.

not everyone is going to have the same experience. some people really are better suited for windows. just because you thinks its all a sloppy mess doesn't mean we all do. I would much rather run osx because its based on the most solid os on earth, bsd. its not some hunk of crappy coding all...

    Boot time duration?

I got my first mac in 95 or 96 so I started in the 7.5 days. I have always left my desktop systems on 24/7. didn't start the 24/7 thing till I switched to macs for some reason.

    Are Zip dirves done for?

back in 97-98 zip drives were the bomb. I had an external scsi version and the disks were faster than the internal hd on my powerbook 540c that was upgraded to a ppc 603e 117mhz. keep in mind though that the 500 series first came out in 94 and used the fastest ibm 2.5" that was out. I used to...

How to choose a linux flavour ?

I have read a few articles that say bsd is more secure but linux is only less secure for the same reason windows is and thats a much higher user base. there are probably 25-30 linux users for every bsd user so there are less people to figure out exploits. no computer with any os is 100% secure...

    iMac Speed Benchmarks?

the G5 chip itself is not much faster than a G4 mhz for mhz. its the G5 bus/logic board architecture that really speeds it up. if you could put a G4 cpu on a G5 board I bet the G4 wouldn't be much slower.

the logic board problem is only on the white G3 ibooks. clamshell and G4 ibooks have no issues like that.

    The Screen Savers Canned.

the screen savers had pretty much been crap the last few weeks anyway. this past monday they did a segment that posed the question "why are mac users so fanatic". all they ended up doing was showing some mods and micro-models of macs. very stupid.. sarah has always kinda bothered me as she...

    YellowDogLinux 4.0 ain't free?!

doesn't linux legally have to be free? the only time you should ever pay for linux is if you buy the disks with a manual. downloading has always been free. this is very odd and I want to keep an eye on what happens with this.

    Can I upgrade my processor?

I think mac cpu upgrades are just as logical as x86 systems if not more. I upgraded from a G3 350 to a G4 500 cpu and it was well worth it since I use a few altivec apps.
