Yeah, but I'm sure any Virex will be a system hog. Having the background Virus Shiled naturally seems like a cpu hog, and is almost always unneeded. If anything, I should be able to set it up to only scan downloaded files I choose.

Alright, I uninstalled Virex, CPU usage is way down. Now the CPU is being hogged by Safari, Colloquy, and Adium, as it should be. But, um, doesnt Virex have its usages, like keeping viruses out. Lets say hypothetically that I went to a crack site (but of course I never would, right?)...

This process is taking between 50 and 75 percent of my CPU. I believe its related to Virex. What is it really, why is it taking up so much cpu, how can I bring it down, and what would happen if I killed it?

but supposedly dashboard has a few problems, such as the widgets hog virtual memory, and that info doesnt upgrade unless the widget is open. whats the difference between quicksilver and launchbar?

From the sounds of it, it seems that Spotlight and Dashboard are inferior to Qucksilver and Konfabulator, that many of its new features either arent working yet or not as advertised, and that for all the speed increases, its still got lots of potential for messing up and causing many a reboot...

Might also be a good thing to go clean up the font book.

Be careful. Dont remove any input interfaces, even foreign ones. I managed to lose all typing input using Monolingual and had to archive reinstall.

I archive installed when I had to fix Panther. It's irritating. i'm just gonna upgrade and hope for the best.
