    Which 'nix will port easiest?

Do you know what compilers they use on each platform? If GCC then it does not matter which version of the code you use particularly. If not... I would go with the AIX code but expect some work. Is it statically or dynamically linked? Does not make a big difference as to platform but will...

Powerbook G5's? - If so, what do we want

Correct, this thread is about what we would want if the rumors about a G5 processor laptop are true. Given the assumption it is a G5 laptop, 4GB is possible.

Powerbook G5's? - If so, what do we want

Firewire or USB Drive? Of course OS X would be pre-installed so only an issue at upgrade for a home user.

Powerbook G5's? - If so, what do we want

I am not as ambitious. Backlit keyboard and FW800 for the 12" PB. Better video card with 128MB. Reasonable heat levels; no higher than current power books, preferably lower. On the 15 and 17" max out at 4GB of RAM. On the 17" 2 battery bays.

Why make the jump to Mac?

Well, it is not a lame excuse if you are a rabid gamer (which I am not). And macs are for the most part more expensive than the wintel equivalent, though the price can be justified. Why switch? Streamlined UI Less maintenance intensive than Windows, Dissatisfaction with your current OS...

    Mac mini

I will get one myself as well but I can wait 4-6 months. That will give enough time for initial feedback as well as give the mac sites time to determine just how hard it will be to replace the memory. I would rather not fork out the upgrade for the memory when I have 1GB 333 DDRs sitting...

    ThinkSecret getting sued again

From what I can see Apple is not suing ThinkSecret for violating an NDA. There is no evidence to support the maintainer of ThinkSecret ever signed or agreed in principal to (i.e. "click through") an NDA and therefore can not be bound to it. Apple is suing ThinkSecret for tortious...
