Just used 'shutdown' on my osx 10.2.6 box the way i used it on Suse Linux, and still do on Debian. It works perfectly. This will work...: shutdown -h now EDIT: to be clear: 'shutdown -h now' shuts your machine down completely. EDIT2: and it's also fully safe!

Since I'm able to open applications, folders or whatever in the macosx-way within the terminal (and thus also remotely) with the 'open' command, i'm hoping there is also a command that does the reverse. So closing an application/folder/e.g. without using ps auxc and kill... Anybody knows...

I would love to see the metal background integrated in the whole system, like the brushed metal theme i always used (and still use at my G3 375 MT) :D

For really unmounting seccond partition go to terminal and type: > sudo umount /Volumes/NameOf10dot3Harddisk Indeed, unmount spelled without the 'n' to mount again: > sudo mount /Volumes/NameOf10dot3Harddisk The umounted partition will return anyway on reboot. This should do it..
