Feel like that Mervyn's commercial, "Open.. Open.. Open.." I wanna see what's behind that sticky at the Apple Store.... 15 minutes to go.

    A PC after Apple's Heart

Here's the article @ TechTV regarding the Mach 3.8. http://www.techtv.com/screensavers/products/story/0,24330,3589077,00.html (realized article was aleady posted.. sorry for dup) My personal opinion on this is that they are a very small company that is trying to sell machines with an...

Expose -- Death to tabbed browsing?

Using expose is just a little too involved to be a replacement for tabbed browsing. Depending on how you use expose, (via function key or by hot corner) you may find that tabbed browsing is more simplistic. Compare moving you mouse to the top right screen to activate expose, then navigate...

    Startup time

7B85 takes about 50 seconds on my Dual 450 G4... but my 2.4GHz P4 XP machines take about 15 seconds to boot from the bios.. I guess it's time to get one of them new dual 2 giggers..hehe.;)

sync tool for computers on a network?

I dirtly little way to sync your projects could be to use the comand-line 'Ditto'. With Ditto, you could setup a sript to copy a folder from one place to another and then cron it to run daily or weekly.. whatever suits you best. There is more information about this on another tread.... Backup...

Locking Dock Icons to the Dock?

OS X Server does allow for this type of restriction, but I don't recall seeing this on a normal OS X workstation. You might find more on this in the System Preferences/Accounts section. If I find more on it, I'll pass it along here. **Edit** Did take long to check.. I VNC'd into my mac...

    wireless keyboard and mouse

Am I the only one that thinks that both the keyboard and mouse for $140 is way over-priced for what they provide? Look at the functionality of the Logitech MX Duo. Both keyboard and mouse for around $89. Apple wants to sell this wireless keyboard (which is quite too soft to the touch from...

    Can we moderate war?

I don't see a problem with discussions regarding war as long as it doesn't end up in the rumors section or any other section that does not relate. The Cafe seems to be the proper place for war chat and everything else off-topic

    Changes regarding Macworld Expo

Stopping Keynote speeches will not stop whiners. People will still complain even in silence. All apple needs to do is innovate and surprise us once in a blue moon. Keynote or not, their products will still rock.

    $1 a song by Apple

Jet is on the right track. This will more than likely be how it turns out. I'm not too sure if Apple will house the servers though. I think they will be the middle-man and will just be the front-end of the system. The vaults will be elsewhere...that way the record companies can keep an eye on...

    $1 a song by Apple

For the last time..... Apple will not promote the theft of music. They will not let you just download from anyone using their program. They will however allow you to connect your local network together and share... afterall, you could just as easily make a cd for a roomate. The technology you...

    $1 a song by Apple

I also think that Apple will provide this in a catalog fashion. You would be able to browe their 'Playlist' in iTunes, drag over the songs you want into a local playlist or you main library, and then be prompted for payment. It would almost be like a streaming server, so being able to preview...

    $1 a song by Apple

Androo: What you are decribing sounds like a typical song pirate complaint. Apple will be providing premium music direct from the record company. Apple is not going to hookup 100 xservers and download music from Kazaa or Limewire to then provide it to us for a fee.

so, where do we go from here?

I would just like to say Scott that you got your work cut out for you on this subject. I have been spinning my wheels in my head over this and can't think of anything that would be a fair choice to give supporters as a perk. As Giaguara mentioned, adding additional smilies would be a good...

    A Main Page?

I home page would be nice. The example you showed looked cluttered to me though. I think some basic news on what's new and happening with a side bar with links to other useful Mac sites/resources would be good. Sections laid out for specific functions like the mail service you provide instead...

    $1 a song by Apple

I thought that the reason why CDs cost up around $15 - $18 is because of the production of the media (packaging, media, mastering, etc.) So to get the song without the CD is saving money for someone. I guess Apple picks that up as profit for providing the service. Still though you should look...

    Just curious...

I'm a little bothered by some that don't contribute and then complain. I'm even more bothered by people that do contribute and then complain. Most need to realize what they are contributing for. Scott needs money to run the site. Contributing does not entitle anyone to God mode. ]> God...
