    Deleting Mail Accounts

Although I fear that barhar is right, if you want to search more thoroughly, you can try the Unix command 'locate'. You do so in the Terminal app, which is in /Applications/Utilities. Just type 'locate *.dmg' (without the quotation marks) at the the $ prompt and you'll find all of the dmg files...

    Bad colors in Search results

The header for search results includes text that I find to be barely visible. The text is class "smallfont" using text color #555555 and appears on a background class "tcat" using background color #004d80. I think that the "smallfont" text should be lightened a bit. #999 text works on #004d80...

If you can update your XP to SP2, you can "slipstream" that into a disk for installing SP2 on the Mac. Here are instructions for slipstreaming: http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp

    RSS Reader Software

Yeah, I remember being very happy when I found Vienna. I had been using NNW Lite, but there was something about it that really irked me. Does it require clicking a button to update the feeds, instead of doing so on a schedule? (I wish Vienna's schedule were customizable, especially on a per feed...

    I want to switch but...

Not exactly the answer that you're looking for, but you could keep the Windows box and control it via "VNC." That's what I do - one screen, one keyboard, one mouse control both computers at the same time. It's like Parallels, only the interaction with the Windows box is slow. If you might be...

Does WEP's insecurity affect wired connections?

Thanks nixgeek and ]Michael[ (your first post no less)! And, may I add, Drats! Double Drats! I can't switch to WPA because TiVo only supports WEP and the only reason I even have wireless is for the TiVo. I have the firewall enabled on both computers. It looks like I've done about all I...

Does WEP's insecurity affect wired connections?

I have a wireless router that uses WEP security for the wireless connection. I'm wondering if WEP's security issues could somehow make the wired connections from the same router insecure. For example, could someone sniff the password to gain access to the router and from there to my Mac? What...

    Can't register Toast or Popcorn

I'm still offended, especially since my suggestion was directly on point.

    Can't register Toast or Popcorn

Do the Name and Company that you entered match whatever Toast and Popcorn have for you? Sometimes the serial number is tied to a particular name. If you try reinstalling the software, remember to delete the preference files too (*.plist).

    Dreamweaver

Did you try it with and without Passive FTP? (Site Definition | Advanced | Remote Info) Also, there are two options under the "Server Compatibility..." button that you might try. You might also try leaving Host Directory blank or "/". I had problems too. At least the "Test" button makes it...

    Pls. remove underlines from links

    I just overrode the underlines. In Firefox's userContent.css, these lines work @-moz-document domain(macosx.com) { div[id="container"] a { text-decoration: none !important; } }

    Pls. remove underlines from links

Could you remove the underlines from the links? Most browsers default to underlining links but give the user a choice in the matter. I don't see the need to overrule that choice with your CSS. CSS file: http://www.macosx.com/css/stylesheet_macosxcom.css CSS: a:link { color...

    email Spam help

I forward email from an account plagued with spam images to Gmail and then retrieve it from Google with Apple's Mail, thereby using Google's spam filters. This has worked very well for me with image ads for penny stocks. Some details: Mail sent to minckster -at- isp.net forwards to minckster...

32" LCD screen. Around 30 lbs. or 30 kg?

Thanks Mikuro! I'm reminded of the commercial, "I could have had a V-8!" I should have thought of that. I checked out the TV in a store, but it wasn't in a place where I could try lifting it. All of its competitors were pretty light, so 35-45 lbs. must be right. I still haven't pulled the...

32" LCD screen. Around 30 lbs. or 30 kg?

Amazon and Newegg disagree on whether an LCD TV I'm looking at is 30 lbs (13.6 kg) or 42 kg (92.4 lbs). 30 lbs. seems awful light for a 32" TV, while 92 lbs. seems awful heavy (and possibly too heavy for the intended table). What's probably right, 30 lbs. or 42 kg? (I edited the paragraph above...

Unable to Launch Fireworks through Dreamweaver

Dreamweaver's preferences for File Compare uses a colon notation for the path (e.g., Macintosh HD:usr:bin:twdiff). Perhaps it wants the same notation to find Fireworks in Preferences | File Types / Editors. [Edit to add: I'm using DW8.]
