Flash audio sounds like fingernails down a blackboard

thanks for the reply sitstaunch. i fixed it by reinstalling Flash player. I thought I had already done that, but out of desperation I did it again and it worked ? I was hoping it would be more complicated than that!

Flash audio sounds like fingernails down a blackboard

I cannot listen to flash video on websites like YouTube etc. as the audio is all scrambed and sounds like 1000 people running their fingernails down a blackboard all at once. This has only just started happening, I am *pretty sure* it was happening before I installed 10.4.10, so I don't think...

    Buying an iMac

It has been 294 days since the last revision of the iMac; the average is 168 (source). They are overdue for a major upgrade. having said that, they are currently very very good computers. even if they do update it, I can't imagine it would be an enormous change (though you never know!) crap.i...

    Other Tour keyboard on iPhone

i'd have thought they would allow you to tip the iPhone sideways so that you have a wider area for the keys. This would allow larger letters and room for punctuation keys. still, some clever ideas. I though it was especially clever how the software increases or decreases the target area of...

    Apple's Homepage: *ALL* iPhone...

lol nice observation fryke. Even the "Hot news headlines" are iPhone-centric These are the current stories being rotated on the front page (gray items are non-iPhone stories): “Amazing,” the iPhone Matches Most of its Hype” “An Excellent Implementation of State-of-the-art Features” AT&T...

    (actual) iPhone Prices

couldn't agree more. I already pay $100/month for Internet (not to mention my mortgage and utilities!) and refuse to add more monthly bills to the pile. I will only consider buying a phone if I can use a pre-paid contract. That probably means buying an unlocked phone, which will be difficult...

Ok what the heck is this?

Gizmodo has posted a video demo of someone who has adapted the surface technology into a laptop. http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/touch-me%2C-i.m-slick/microsofts-multi+touch-laptop-based-on-the-surface-table-271065.php looks great. obviously early days -- the GUI of modern OS's is not set up...

    Mac Commercial Spoofs

haha that was funny -- the Linux addition was a very nice touch :) great find. These spoofs are getting a little out of hand though. I have never seen so many parodies of a single ad. or movie or tv show for that matter.

Anyone really dig the new 'iTunes7 -ified' look of Leopard?

I agree the new look is not as amazing as I was hoping (and yes, coverflow is useless. It looks great but is horribly impractical). When he announced there was a "new desktop" my mouth opened slightly in anticipation. However as he ran through it, my jaw slowly returned to its normal position...

Anyone really dig the new 'iTunes7 -ified' look of Leopard?

I only just realised that Steve never mentioned the fact that Leopard is resolution independant. This was apparently confirmed by apple (kind of...in the sense that it was mentioned in WWDC email), so AFAIK it is not a rumor. i was looking forward to a demo of this. I recall he did zoom in to...

    iPhone 8 hour battery life

on a side note: the "iPhone Competitive Data" table at the bottom of the page originally listed the Nokia N95 as not having Wi-Fi. Cheeky buggers.

    iPhone 6pm June 29th Plans?

depends on the supply/demand situation. We've seen video game consoles sold on ebay for $10,000 while supply is low. It seems likely the iPhone will sell out in the first batch, and there will be a lot of people willing to spend big for one.

Anyone really dig the new 'iTunes7 -ified' look of Leopard?

looks a lot better than the horribly distracting striped madness that they used to have... ::vomits:: i like the uniformity, and I like that they are getting rid of the drawer and opting for iLife '06 style embedded left or right column.

    WWDC 2007. thoughts? guesses?

nice find nix -- very similar! I have my dock down the left side, not sure how well that will work with the new dock. No hardware announcements which is disappointing. And still no indication of a new iPod. I realise it is WWDC, so iPod isn't exactly a high priority, but it's been so long...

MS .docx format: need to vent my anger

so it finally happened -- someone sent me a .docx file which I cannot open. Fortunately, MS now have the Office Open XML File Format Converter which made it reletively painless, but I'm mighty annoyed for the following reasons: 1) The Office Open XML File Format Converter is 0.1 beta...

iPhone - New Commericals - June 29th Launch

Yes I saw these linked to on a blog somewhere (Mac rumors I think?). They were saying this is what the Mac ads should be -- promoting the user interface. I thought it was an interesting point, as apple has in the past avoided this approach to advertising. when are they going to be available...

Ok what the heck is this?

It's easy to slip into anti-MS rants (especially in this forum ;) ), but this looks very cool. Providing it works the way they advertise, this is a evry useful and innovative technology. Not something we're going to see in our homes IMO, but at restaurants and information booths etc, this would...
