i'm really confused as to how the hell a quicktime/itunes update could have caused this... but I was previously running my display at 1280x1024@75 Hz... and after rebooting it won't go any higher than 60 Hz (quite the bloody pain in the eyes)... what the heck happened! graham

flacochala, the easier way to install mysql is probably through fink... but there some binary distributions available online. http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/mysql/ is good if i remember correctly. For a broader list of option check the actual mysql docs...

As I am not entirely familiar with the replace command, would it perhaps be easier to use awk's built in gsub syntax? i believe for awk it is something like gsub(" ","\ ",/path/to/file) --- hope this is of some use graham

Although I hate to use an analogy to windows... the start menu key + R presents a very nice dialogue through which you can run any DOS command. (perhaps the only convenient feature i've found yet.) Yes you can run a command from within terminal, but it's not very convenient to be in that...

This seeems as if it should be an easy problem to fix... but after installing xmms via fink, I can't add anything whatsoever to the playlist, no matter how hard I try. Thus I have no way to verify the player even works. thanks, graham

Well i can click "check spelling as you type," but every time i enter a space or a punctuation i get the error... quite a pain since many apps have it on by default. Damn beta is too... betaish.

Every single application that uses the spellchecker service replies. "Could not contact spellchecker" when i tell it to spell check, or when it does it while i type. Overall this is rather annoying, i was wondering if maybe this was specific to my system, or a more global 10.3 issue. Any help...
