Hunter dlookus - when you think of boobies, you then think of booby trap? What is going on there? Did your mother hurt you or something when you were a baby?

    eh?

Bit of a shocker that result. There were quite a few off the woodwork though. Henri should really have stuck a few away. Senegal caused LOTS of problems for Desailly and other other centre back (whose name escapes me at the moment). It's going to get interesting in the next few weeks. R.

    phone... ghz/mhz

Chemistry_Geek: Only per photon. The power output of the phone is the power output. If the frequency increases then the number of photons will decrease accordingly. The battery will only supply a certain amount of power. Not sure what you mean here. Apart from side-banding, there should be...

    eh?

I don't think that there is anything wrong with the system, it is just how you play it. With that system it is all to easy to get old fashioned and let your fall backs play defence all the time. With total football the fullbacks have really got to push up and play in midfield a lot of the time...

Quartz Extreme - is Apple on Crack?

fryke - agreed with the DOS. I was just thinking about the problem that it had around DOS 5 with largest HDDs. There was a big leap in MSDOS around that time - almost a different product it was such a re-vamp. R.

Quartz Extreme - is Apple on Crack?

Not true. 32MB recommended for optimum performance. Works with less. The type of graphics card is important. Yes (even if 99% is true), but runs OK with with current technology out there. OSX runs great on the new rack mounted server (I assume), but runs fine on my iBook. It wouldn't make...

    Fetch 4.01/Airport basestation probs

Many thanks - no results yet, but I should know soon. OK - I set them. What do they do exactly? I believe I know what passive does, but what does the second option do? R.

    Fetch 4.01/Airport basestation probs

I use Fetch as my main FTP client - I tend to use the mirror function to keep my sites up to date. However every so often the connection stalls and I then lose all airport connectivity to my base station until I physically unplug the base station and plug it back in again. I cannot access it...

Why do these damn Dell PC's keep getting faster?!

This point is key. It is not just a case of sticking a faster chip in the current computers - they would overheat. Either the chips must produce less heat or more fans must be put in the design. R.

    phone... ghz/mhz

This reminds me of a time when a friend of mine stuck an Apple sticker on his snowboard, which happened to have a some apple like graphics on it. Someone quite seriously asked him when Apple started making snowboards, and where could they get one. I would buy a snowboard if Apple made one :D

    Are you anti-frames?

Not if it were a database driven system (which I certainly hope Sun's is). It would make no difference in fact. Agreed if it is individual web pages, but which century are Sun in? I like this argument. R.

    phone... ghz/mhz

actually, don't those figures relate to the frequency of the carrier signal and not the bandwidth? If so, then it has not (or very little) effect on the data throughput. Normal landlines have a bandwidth mesured in kHz (going back to school now - could have changed recently, but not much?)...

    Wait a minute

It must be the physical size of the monitor (including base). Using pythagorus if one side of the viewable screen was 14.09" then the other side would be just over 5" to make a screen size of 15". This would be an unusual shape for a monitor. R.

    Are you anti-frames?

I agree with benpoole, except that I feel the Sun example is the one of the better reasons not to use frames. The site is not intuitive - try and guess which of the frames will respond to clicking a link in another one. However if I was implementing that web site I would probably use frames...
