could the 'lost' disk space be his deleted user folder? when you delete a user from the pref pane the contents of their user folder gets put in a /users/deleted users/

i have never been able to get it to work. it hangs on the first photo or movie and then cpu usage goes to 100% and if i dont have terminal open and ready to kill the process chances are i have to pop the battery image capture used to work fine in 10.1 with my elph but since i installed 10.2...
