    Step up Apple...

All these excuses are really funny. It doesn't matter whether the app is a beta or not. Apple KNEW hundreds of thousands of people would be downloading Safari. Whatever the license agreement says, it is extremely BAD PR to distribute something that can erase your home directory by accident...

    PB Critics tear Apple apart

Actually, 7.5.5 was released in 1996, but you're not far off :D Apple system software timeline: http://www.theapplemuseum.com/index.php?id=tam&page=timeline&subpage=os

    PB Critics tear Apple apart

Well, I sure like the stuff Apple brought out at Macworld. However, if what Apple is doing now is "innovating", they sure as hell used to innovate a lot more in the past. When Microsoft brought out the first version of Windows, Apple was 10 years ahead. Since then MS has more or less caught up...

    Apple X11 server beta out

Wow, this is fast. I've never installed X11 on OS X before, and this was really a no-nonsense install. Window resizing is really fast, ie. what it should be! If only it was as fast in Aqua... :(

    12" PowerBook G4 in fact is a 12" iBook G4???

Finally a PowerBook in my price range. Perhaps next summer I'll have one of those, or maybe the next revision. Really, really great! It's also a good size, and supports an extended desktop without nasty hacks :D

Safari Features - Password storing, status bar, all included

The great thing about the pop-up blocker is that it's not buried in a preference pane. It can be enabled/disabled with a simple keystroke!

    Let's all click the Bug-Button

I totally agree. Tabs can also be confusing sometimes, because tabs that are in the background won't be listed in the Window menu or in the dock menu. The fact Apple hasn't implemented tabs in Safari is a sign that there's still someone at Apple who has read their own UI guidelines. :) What...

Apple to add SMS synching between iCal, iSync, Address Book and Nokia phones...?

What's the deal with Nokia (and other) phones with GPRS and Mac OS today? I'm mostly interested in using GPRS for internet access (not WAP), and would be interested in knowing which GPRS-capable phones are compatible with Mac OS X.

I had a dream, hem, nightmare

By "over here" I presume you mean the UK. I don't think this can be generalised to the rest of Europe, and most certainly not the Nordic countries. Oddly, although in Finland we tend to make fun of our neighbour Sweden (and vice versa), Volvo is an extremely popular car here. And in case...

    Dvorak international layouts for macs?

I've heard a lot of good stuff about Dvorak, but I believe it is designed to be fast when typing in English, so you won't necessarily get good results with Italian.

    Replacing the Finder

I use Path Finder occasionally, and it's mostly great. I don't like the way stuff on the desktop is organised, though, but that's a matter of opinion. The features it offers are great and the developer really listens to feedback. The only problems with it are related to usability, which...

    10.2.3

How odd - I'm using the SmoothStripes (squared) theme and am having no problems at all.

    Show Your Dock

Here's mine. I use DragThing as a launcher for most stuff, and I only keep stuff in the Dock that I really use all the time. I guess that says something about how much actual work I do on my Mac :D

    Found OS X trick

No, it will only make your house dissappear, whereever you are... :D

    10.2.3 new brushed interface?

Well "brushed aluminum" is making a bad thing worse, in my opinion. In addition to having all the problems linked to normal Aqua (except the stripes and the brightness) it makes the titlebar dissappear completely. By the way, I'm currently using Max Rudberg's Rhapsodized theme, which is mostly...

    10.2.3 new brushed interface?

Yes, that's one of the very few things that is done better in Windows. :)

    10.2.3 new brushed interface?

If you mean the part in the AHIG concerning the use of color in interface design, then yes. Originally though it was just about my own frustration concerning Apple's "modern" Aqua UI. It's all neat and lickable and all that, but I think they should've instead built on the stuff they had learnt...

    10.2.3 new brushed interface?

Since they're doing changes to the window widgets, I wish they'd also make the widget symbols "X", "-" and "+" always visible. Having to scrub the buttons with a mouse to see what they do is just bad UI design, and goes against Apple's own guidelines. They should also come up with a replacement...

    MacUser UK article on Marklar

Apple would also have to make significantly faster hardware for people to even consider buying their stuff. Currently Apple can (and does, to some extent) take advantage of being the only supplier of Macs. Think about it, if OS X worked on all the various cheaper, faster PC hardware out there...
