How on EARTH did my dialup connection do this?!

I have a 56k connection that tends to run a bit slow...usually around 3k...takes me around 6 minutes to download 1MB from a relatively fast source. Someone just sent me a 2.8MB file, and the entire thing was downloaded in 3 minutes. That's almost 1MB per minute, which (by my calculations) is...

    Recognize my iPod, %$%#*^!

They're both there...it just kills me that to update my iPod, I have to restart my Mac first...aren't WINDOWS users the ones who are supposed to be having these problems?! It's this evil 10.2.6 update, I tell you. It did funny things to my iMac. *Crosses fingers and waits for Panther*

    Recognize my iPod, %$%#*^!

Lately (and sporadically), when I dock my 15GB 'pod, it'll charge, but iTunes (and Finder) don't recognize it as being mounted...anyone know of any fix for this?

    The RIAA's Threat!

I thought Giaguara was in Italy or Latin America. Reminds me of that "Where do the Simpsons" live topic that was on here a few months ago.

    Radiohead or Coldplay

Radiohead will be around in some form or another...they don't enjoy the obvious fan base that Coldplay does (it's not often you'll hear about radiohead on MTV), but they have a huge niche audience. They're have something of a cult following, whereas Coldplay tends to attract the Good...

    iPod battery misbehaving

go to forums at www.ipodlounge.com...those guys know EVERYTHING about iPods. If it's your battery, you can replace first generation iPod batteries yourself for $50...it's easy to do. Ask one of them for the URL, I lost it...but I know it was @ laptopbatteries.com

    Tracing users

When I plug a firewire HD into my mac and transfer files, how is the HD logged? By name or by some sort of #? When using DV editing, it could be useful to have the name of my iPod and FW HD's logged, so I know where my raw footage is stored (it can be a crap shoot sometimes)

What on EARTH just happenned to my iMac?!?!

I have a 17" iMac LCD running 10.2.6...I was online, and all of a sudden, the screen turned translucent grey (it was like it dimmed, but it went quickly from top to bottom) and a white box popped up that said "you must restart yoru computer, press restart or hold downthe power button" in several...

    what flavor?!

Dude, I feel you....I sold my iMac, and I was considering waiting from June-Sept on an old 133mhz Packard Bell that we had laying around. In the end, I decided I didn't NEED a G5, and I'd be happier with a nice 17" iMac...if I got that G5, I'd be using like a 15" CRT....kinda defeats the purpose:-P

    New iMac Rumor Discussion

Absolutely no way. Not a chance. The iMac is a consumer machine. The G4 still has PLENTY of life left in it, and Apple knows it. There's no way they could fit the cooling system the G5 requires into anything even CLOSE to an enclosure the size of the current iMac's.

    Quad Processor G5?!

It's been published (with screenshots) that there's code in Panther to support single, double, triple, and quad processors....I'm looking for the screenshot again, it was on spymac.com

Does the warranty/applecare cover broken LCDs?

My friend accidentally closed her 12" powerbook with something between the display and the keyboard, and now she has a large black dot...the LCD is obviously broken. She doesn't have Applecare. If she were to buy it, would the LCD be covered against this? I know that several wintel manufacturers...

Making iTunes work with speakable items..help

I recently discovered the speech control option in OS X. I downloaded an applescript from Apple's site that's supposed to play a random song when the script is run. I put it in my speakable items folder, and it's recognized, but it won't actually RUN. Does anyone know how I can get iTunes to...

    logging firewire disks

If I'm using several portable firewire disks on my Mac, (video) is there a way that I can log the name of the disk, so I know exactly when I transferred what? Is there a system log that says "on so and so date and time, data was downloaded to so and so disk (by the actual name of the disk?) It's...

    Office Alternative

Appleworks can do it...so can openoffice. Appleworks is included on consumer macs, or $50 seperately. Open office is free, I believe.
