You could try switching finder to Icon view rather than list or column view. You can put small icons on all pics by opening the pics in most graphic software. Graphic Converter will put icons on whole folders at once. Best.

Very similar eMac here. Panther was great with no problems at all. Tiger is running fine although at 512 Ram I'm saving up for more. A couple more point releases for Tiger will help and many vendors haven't updated their software yet which may be the deciding factor.

Just put the mailboxes icon on the toolbar, just click it and hide the sidebar. Might not bother you so much then. :-)

Got caught out with fonts years ago LOL. I keep copies of all my fonts in an archive folder in my user folder. Same with dmg copies kept just in case I have to reinstall anything. Then it's just a simple job burning my user folder, including library, through finder.
