I have a lot of fonts too so what worked for me is this:
remove all of the fonts that I installed and put them in a folder on the hard drive - I called it 'My Fonts'.
With suitcase's font doctor, I had it repair any damaged/corrupt fonts in that folder then had it group them all by family...
