I don't think there's anything you can do to resolve it... except, bring it to an Apple Store. That's what I did, and they fixed it up for me 1,2,3 (well not "1,2,3" -took about 2 hours for the computer to move stuff to the external) at the Genius Bar free of charge! I suggest you try this.
