I guess I was being impatient, it did eventually boot after 10 minutes. But I am still seeing a sibling link error in disk utilities and I am unable to reformat my mac because it won't let me boot from cd. Thanks!

In an attempt to fix a sibling error showing in disk utility, following online help using fsck, my iMac will no longer boot. It just gets stuck on the grey screen with the circle constantly spinning. It won't boot into safe mode or from the osx disk. It will boot into verbose and fsck mode...
