well aware, that why i figured it would be safe for someone to throw some code at me. but i hate windows boards! they seem to be full of bratty 11-year-olds (not to offend any of the 11-year-olds here).

is it possible to get my hands on the code for any of the viruses and worms that fly about? i've never really seen any so i'm curious. i promise its not for bad reasons.

i have the itrip and it works pretty well. haven't used any others so i can't comment on them. the only problem, (and this applies to all) is that if you live in an area with lots of radio stations it is hard to get a clean signal sometimes.

except he is sharing his net connection now without a router. he need not get a router to share!

how will the router save money in the long run?

i've often held the opinion that ms has little to worry about on the desktop with linux for reasons such as this. it tends to be a pain more than anything. of course you have to understand that you are using the "free" download method. buying the cds would probably make your life easier...

trillian, can you point us to this info? in my searches i have found nothing that allows one to use openoffice without x11.

i don't know why exactly, but i'm willing to bet it has something to do with setting up the target and executable stuff. i may be wrong, but you would probably be better served to learn java without the help of an ide. in my experience it gives you a better idea the things an ide hides...

is there disk copy in panther? i seem to be missing it. ideas? while i'm at it, can i burn an iso to a cd with disk copy and have it be bootable on a pc?

sounds like you might be in trouble. i have no ideas other than for you to write your own function. you say that you can but it deletes everything in its path? why not get whatever character is in the location and store it so you can replace it as you go? maybe someone else has better...

that sounds like a user-defined function. at the very least, it isn't descriptive. can you tell us what it is supposed to do, what types x and y are, maybe post some code?

i was under the impression that command-clicking on refresh will give you a "fresh" reload. try that out.

my dock "hangs" sometimes. i can't find a particular situation when it happens, but i'll tell you the problem. i have my dock set to auto hide and use magnification. when i go to the bottom of the screen and it is supposed to pop up, it doesn't. i have to click on the bottom of the screen...

in reponse to eye rebuttal, i looked at the page and the links, and that "scientific method" conjures up as much hand waving as the creationists. good stuff. in my mind, the ideas can coexist. even if you can explain everything scientifically, who are you to say that some higher power...

it seems to be the consensus that creationists are wrong and some of you have gone so far to say that religion is somewhat of a hoax. i have my doubts as well, but there is something to be said in favor it, i believe. one of you mentioned that you hate that these people go on "blind faith"...
