This flashbased player is slightly smaller than the mini-iPod and is recently availible with 512 MB of storage for rougly $280 (in Sweden anyway) and it has 12 hours of batterylife. The mini-ipod is really quite sweet when I think about it =))

hmm, another thing, the Apple. com G5 Xserve page shows a graph where a 2 Ghz Opteron gets 5.91 Gflops on Linpack and gets completely spanked by the P4:s and the G5. I couldn't find any good info on Opteron Linpack-performance but to begin with there's a 2.2 Ghz Opteron availible and I don't...

well, I was referring to the larger iPod. Guess I was a bit confusing.... However, I suppors 8 hours is reasonable. I don't really know the typical power consumption for Flash-media but the iRiver IFP380T has a stated battery life of 24 hours. Batterylife is obviously the trade-off you have to...

that's really crappy compared to the competition. I don't really know any figures for flash-based players but there are several hard-diskbased players that do at least twice that.

well, i did expect them to announce fast PowerMacs so a bit disappointed. However, the imac was updated quite recent (20") so i don't think there'll be an imac-update until late february/early march. PowerMacs probably before that. G5 PowerBooks this summer. I for one find the mini-iPods...

    Exclusive Insider News - iBox

I thought the same thing when I saw that pic of the remote. But as you say, it's just an artist's impression. Regarding cost, such would never sell for less than $350 and considering that an iPod that only plays mp3s goes for as much as $500, i wouldn't be surprised if an iBox (if these...

Cheapest method for capturing analogue video?

quote (http://www.intronics.nl/intronics/eng/pcix.jsp): "Will conventional PCI cards be compatible in PCI-X based systems? Yes, conventional PCI cards will be compatible in PCI-X systems. The PCI card will run at its assigned speed (either 33 MHz or 66 MHz), and will experience no speed...

just bought blueberry iBook 300, questions.....

As for heatissues with a 7200rpm drive, that´s not necessarily a problem. If you look around at different 2,5" drive manufacturers websites, you´ll see that difference in heat output in watts is very small between current 4200, 5400 and 7200 drives, in ther order of 0.3W-0.4W. It also seems...

    G5- second internal hard drive

AFAIK there are plenty of Serial ATA -> ATA converters around, it´s just a kind of connector you put between the ATA-disk and the SATA-connector. Not too expensive i think but I haven´t really checked. I think ABIT shipped such converters with their first SATA-equipped motherboards and I´m sure...

    Cleaning a Flatscreen Monitor?

Yeah, A damp cloth or something like that works great, just don´t push very hard on the screen. That´s what I´ve been using om my TFT:s anyway and no problem whatsoever (and why should ther be? =)

Easiest (and cheapest) way to get TV output?

Seeing that you live in gothenburg (as do I), do your computer have a dedicated S-Videoport or did you use a S-Video -> SCART-adaptor? Some (older, normally) TVs don´t handle S-Video over SCART very well and only display grayscale. Your VCR might handle this better than the TV but degrades the...

    The *book buyer's dillema...

Hehe, all my first three posts on this forum is related to pimping the 12" PB and I must say it rocks! I do have the Rev A one so the Rev B can only be better. They fixed the heatproblem (which I don´t really see as problem) and the Rev B also has DVI and a better graphics chipset. As for...

    PB Buying advice please

As for the resolution of the 12" PB, having the Rev A one, i must say that yse, sometimes it would be nice to have a higher resolution but it´s not as bad as you might think. It works pretty well for Photoshop (can´t say anything about editing movies thoug) but then again everything is relative...

    Powerbook Ettiquette

Well, I don´t have the 17" but the Rev A 12". AFAIK, the casefinish is the same though so it should apply to your PB as well. That said, my PB has been fairly sturdy, I´ve carried it around from time unprotected in a shoulderbag or backpack (not that much though) and it hasn´t gotten any dents...
