    The Jaguar Bugs Thread

Two items: -- Every time my Rev. B iMac restarts, the monitor geometry switches to default settings. -- When I mount a remote volume, the /Volumes folder opens in a new Finder window at the same time the icon appears on my desktop. That's it so far. Rendezvous rocks!

tracking my dynamic IP address remotely by e-mail

Yeah, it would appear I didn't research dynamic DNS services nearly as thoroughly as I thought I had. I suppose even more helpful than my original inquiry would be a list of such providers. If anyone else has used a different service not listed here, please post with your preferred...

tracking my dynamic IP address remotely by e-mail

Holy crap! 1.) That's a lot cheaper than any dynamic DNS I'd yet found, and 2.) the client software works through a router with NAT! Again a feature I'd not yet found. I will be seriously considering this option. Thanks a ton! (If anyone else would still like to respond to my intial...

tracking my dynamic IP address remotely by e-mail

I currently have @home cable modem, and a static IP through them. I have a broadband router and inside that three Macs, including my trusty rev. B iMac which is the Web and file server. I bought a domain name to make such things easier, but as of tomorrow Comcast is forcing us to use DHCP for...

    2 problems with 10.1

YES! I've been trying to find others with this problem. It's been driving me batty. I have it on my iMac and my iBook, my G4 at work, and I saw it on 15 different iMacs that my employer borrowed from Apple for a conference we put on a month or so ago (right after 10.1 came out). I've tried...

    Apache/Web Sharing won't startup solution

This has been driving me batty all day. I just wish I knew the CLI a little better (I guess this is how I learn it, huh?). Again, many thanks.

    10.1 performance report

Yes it will. You'll probably still wish at times for it to be a little faster than it is, but even on a system that old (about as old as my iMac I'm guessing), with that much RAM and 10.1 you will see a significant speed increase.

    10.1 performance report

I definitely agree with what's been said regarding how even 10.1 isn't as fast as 9 on older machines. I have a pretty heavily upgraded rev. b iMac (30 GB HD, 192 MB RAM), and it's usuable but definitely not as fast as 9.x. Don't get me wrong, I don't think I'll ever boot back into 9 on this...

    PGP and OS X

At work I need to use PGP software to decrypt e-mail coming from our Web site. I haven't been able to find any sort of indication when any PGP software will be compatible with OS X. The Knowlege Base articles on pgp.com simply say, "PGP Desktop 7.1 is not compatible with Mac OS X." Their...

    menu bar pref icons

So is there a difinitive list of all the different pref icons 10.1 lets you place in the menu bar? So far I have sound and displays, but I haven't looked very hard. I figure AirPort and battery too, but I haven't had a chance to update my iBook yet, just the iMac.

Reseller upgrades: Post who has it

I got it! Barely though. Evidently Apple shipped all of 30 copies to the only CompUSA in Indianapolis. I know Indy's not a huge town, but I also know there are more than 30 Mac users here. WTF?? Ah well, time to get installin'....

Reseller upgrades: Post who has it

Went to the CompUSA on the north side of Indy this morning around 10:30. They had 10.1 full, but no free upgrades, BUT they were expecting to get them...just hadn't arrived yet. They were taking down names and phone numbers and e-mail addresses in order of when people showed up (I was aobut...
