ont think you can do that without downloading some extra software, but appling permissions will do the same, just instead of typing in a password everytime you want to open the folder, all you have to do is login and out, the default method of doing this is to right or ctrl click on the folder...

did you try opening with quicktime, usualy works but might not. if that dosent work burn the files to cd with itunes and and then re-import them, this has worked for me on several occasions. another solution would be to find a file converter and convert to a format that is more mac friendly.

i have a realy short list: mac mini 1.25 ghz mac se with superdrive other than that ive only worked on other peoples macs and my highschools mac lab

try fugu, has a whale for an icon, works great for ssh but I ve had a few problems connecting with ftp, cant remember where i got it from, should be easy to find on google though.
