Thanks for the tip. I tried it, but I'm afraid it's made no difference. I opened the case to see if anything was obviously amiss, but nothing.

After transporting my G4 the other day I found that both Firewire ports don't seem to work. It doesn't register my DV camera or my external hard-drive. I've tried re-booting in OS9, but still no joy. The System Profiler says "No FireWire devices found". Any ideas? I'm running Mac OS X 10.2.6...
