    HELP! cant start Classic

That's exactly the problem: It's essential to install Mac Os 9.1 first then install OsX. During the install, OsX patches some resources in Os 9.1 so it can run it as "Classic" in it's own shell. If for some reason you need to re-install Os9 (as it happened to me) these patches are obviously lost...

    HELP! cant start Classic

I've got a similar problem: my OS 9.1 got trashed the other day and I had to re-install it. No probs, clean install and all that, works fine. First indication that something was wrong was a message appeared when I changed to OsX startup system to the tune of: "changing your startup system might...

    Finder windows not updating?

Well the desktop always was a special place, so I wouldn't be too surprised if it wasn't updated stante pede, but ordinary folders should display any changes at once. that's most interesting... seems to indicate that the finder info isn't refreshed often enough or maybe even never at all...

Dock in right side of menu bar

Well, I use DragThing (as I did in Os 9.1) as replacement for the dock, which is gone now and I don't miss it at all. I think it's a superfluous gimmick and DragThing is way better than the dock. They should have incorporated that instead. Those floating and constantly resizing icons are utterly...

    Finder windows not updating?

Has anyone else had this problem: When creating a new file in an open window (usually happens when expanding a Stuffit archive into the same folder) the new file does not appear, even after closing and reopening the window. It's definitely there as I can see it via the terminal window, but it...

    Is Mac OS X Confused?

So where's the problem? Only visible difference is the order of files: in the window, the natural order is used e.g. 10 comes after 9 etc., whereas the popup shows everything in simple alphabetical order; 1,10, 11,2,3 etc. Don't know whether that is a 'feature' in OsX or not.

Epson Photo 750 & Canon 8200 photo drivers

If anyone knows a workaround it would be greatly appreciated. I can't believe that neither Apple nor Epson have made any attempts to get the remaining models to print. Can't be THAT difficult!

Anyone have problems in OS X with Epson 740

Well, I've got an EPSON 1200 and it categorically refuses to print under OsX. Well actually it's OsX that refuses to recognise the printer. Prints fine under Os 9.1. Any ideas?

Dock in right side of menu bar

Well, thanx to some helpful souls at www.trickX.com I was able to remove the sodding dock for good! After all, this is some incarnation of UNIX and you can do almost anything in UNIX. ;)

    OmniWeb vs iCab internet browsers

My vote goes to OmniWeb. Absoposidefilutely. I used iCab on Os9, but nothing comes close to this one (I'm using OmniWeb now to write this). On the programmers geek-richter scale I would give it eight out of ten (still some websites it chokes on) but then again these same websites make...

is osx a true unix system

The reason that all other computer manufacturers have more than one mouse button is no coincidence: Apparently Apple holds a patent for a mouse with one button. Rumor has it that it was a glitch: they meant to patent a mouse, full stop, but since it says 'a pointing device with a button' it was...

is osx a true unix system

;) It must be UNIX: It's got VI built in! -- and remember the important bit: there is no spoon

Dock in right side of menu bar

I would like an option to get rid of it! It's bloody annoying, get's in the way of many things and violates the "Human Interface Guidelines" (As set out by Apple themselves). I for my part prefer DragThing. Kill the Dock !

USB Hub and Mac OS X

Don't know the make of mine, says UH-204 on the back, four port hub, the usual blueish-green transparent case, works fine.
