    OMG! Apple acquires Emagic!!!!!!

This is bad. While I use a Mac and Logic Gold myself, I am saddened by this. A less heterogenic sequencer market will be the result, which is catastrophic, since the next largest one is Cubase, which is, in my opinion, not very good. What a loss for Windows users (Emagic have been forced (of...

Hi. I am looking for a fairly good-looking OpenGL 3D game demo for OS X, perhaps Quake III (I couldn't find this). Are there any availible?

Speed (minus pitch) control audio plug-in/software

Hi. I am looking for either a plug-in for software like MACAST or MacAmp which can control the speed of audio, and not modify the pitch, or, alternatively, a stand-alone program for this. I know such a plug-in exists for WinAmp, and I'm sure there is one for Mac OS (classic).

Line/Mic in on PMac G4 QS

There was no signal noise on the old G3. It picked up frequencies good enough... But if I want multiple inputs, there aren't really any other options than semi- or professional cards.

Line/Mic in on PMac G4 QS

Hm... I'm not sure. I am going to be using this machine for semi-professional hard disk recording, and that iMic thing looks suspicious. And I really don't like USB. Is it fast enough for audio transfers? I guess it is for just a stereo input... However, I might go for a card with 4...

Line/Mic in on PMac G4 QS

Hi! Could someone tell me if it is true that the Power Mac G4 "QuickSilver" line has no Audio line/microphone input? What is the reasoning behind this if it is true? Further, are there any ways around this (CD connector on sound card, et cetera?). Finally, as all I do with the Macintosh...

    gimp worth the hype?

Stupid, ugly and dumb RacerX person. It's not called "X-Windows". You can't pretend that it is some fast racing car that you can fantasize about playing around in. Either of these alternatives are acceptable: "X", "X Window System", "X Version 11", "X Window System, Version 11", "X11"...

    Directx support on OSX

It's x86. Valve would have to port it, and they won't.

    I wonder...

Soapvox, "XWindows" (as you called it. it is really X Window System, X11 et cetera) is not a desktop manager. it is a windowing system. the most common consumer implementation of this is XFree86. on top of that you run a window manager, which could be twm, enlightenment, et cetera. desktop...

Not a rumor: OmniWeb 4.1 in September

Ha ha, I used to have some faith in Mac users, but in the end, they are all idiots. This thread clearly demonstrates it.

    Browserwar turnaround?

Matrix Agent: No, I'm completely new here. And I feel very comfortable using words that might be offensive to most people. It's a topic I feel strongly about. It's a topic of extreme importance, and user experience is extremely irrelevant.

    can darwin/afterstep run macosx aplications

No. 1) OS X is PPC 2) Native OS X applications use the OS X UI/graphical APIs (Aqua et al), which are not present in Darwin/AfterStep

    Browserwar turnaround?

natis wrote: If you care the least bit about standards, you'd know that Mozilla (Netscape 6) is unparalleled when it comes to standards! This is really the only valid concern in these times!!! A browser like Mozilla is indeed fast and responsive enough, given today's computer speeds...

A screenshot of my Very own!

When you post it on that iDisk thing, you shut out users of other operating systems.

    Browserwar turnaround?

"Matrix Agent" wrote: That is quite a idiotic thing to say. The only desirable thing is a browser that has the features of Mozilla. Everything is irrelevant and will spell the death of the open internet.
