I can reindex spotlight but it never returns results. I need Help to turn it back "On". Any Suggestions?

i get error -50 whenever i try to acces my second hd. I can't write to it.

I can never reindex spotlgiht because it starts but then stops for some reason. A little while ago i ran out of space because of a faulty hd and a backup program. Any Suggestions?

I need to fix this. For example when I am in photoshop and want to select open on anything but jpgs and gifs it takes around 5 minutes until the open button is illumated and can be clicked

My spotlight is severely corrupted. I have tried everything I have found to fix the problem but notthing has worked yet. Is there anyway to reinstall it. Awhile ago my disk ran out of space, could that have anything todo with it? any help is needed badly. Even the finder search won't work.
