Don't know how well it runs in classic, but you can Get Info on the app itself and toggle the Run in Classic flag.

    AppleWorks 6

Not that the painting environment in AW6 is wonderful in the first place, but it is unusable under OS X pb. I tried drawing a rounded rectangle, and only half of it would appear. Actually, the behavior was a lot stranger, but really hard to describe. The pencil drew about 10 pixels above the...

    Epson 740 drivers?

Now, I'm wondering if you can't set up some driver that works through ghostscript (once it gets working) to print to one of the Epsons ... might be worth a shot. The idea is that you can print a ps or pdf file through ghostscript and then onto a printer. Might be an interesting idea, until...

    iDisk mounting made easy

Well, you can' t blithely make aliases of your iDisk in MacOS X as you can in Mac OS <= 9. But, you can make them. Mount your iDisk either through iTools or connecting from Desktop (cmd-K). Then opt-cmd-drag the iDisk alias from the desktop to your favorites folder. It worked for me.

Pipe MacOS stuff through Unix with Terminal services!

There are a couple of things you can try: 1. In the terminal services window, you can select whether a command can accept plain text, rich text, or a file. Try turning your text into plain text in TextEdit. 2. I noticed that Terminal services don't immediately go active once you've created...

Pipe MacOS stuff through Unix with Terminal services!

If you love the mac and unix, you *must* check out the terminal services. Startup terminal, and leave it running. From its app menu, select "terminal services." This will install some cool utils. Go to TextEdit, its app menu, and then choose from the variety of Terminal Services. Now you can...

    Applets in IE/Omniweb?

Java support for both browsers is apparently not working very well, I turned on the "beta" Java support for IE, and the first simple applet I came to (the popular "Headlines" applet) put crap all over my screen. I guess you can look for Java support to be beefed up. If there's a Java applet...

The Need For Speed -- how to kill debugger?

I was afraid of that. Argh. Maybe I should go to the store and buy some patience ;)

The Need For Speed -- how to kill debugger?

Do any of you developer types know how to kill the debugger mode in the osxpb? Personally, I'd like to see how fast this thing goes.

Here are a few more experiences with MacOS X beta and TeX. - if you use the sketch app that comes with OS X beta, it will save graphics as a pdf that pdftex cannot understand (says it is trying to read a 1.3 version pdf while it supports a 1.2). There is apparently a very recent snapshot of...

    LaTeX

There are a few caveats to using the TeXshop and teTeX. Both work great (i.e. as expected). However, there are a few strange limitations. First, Apple's support of PDF in the Quartz layer seems to be, let us say, incomplete. So if you (La)TeX your file involving heavy mathematics, the preview...
