After uninstalling a bunch of 3rd party utilities, I discovered that APE (APPLICATION ENHANCER 1.4.4) was the culprit. I’ll try updating to 1.5.1, but at least I can temporarily disable APE whenever I need to sync. I hope this helps someone else.
