anerki, Thanks for your reply. I got to the stage that I was tired of going round in circles so I went right back to the beginning; reformatted the hard drive, reinstalled 9.1, then 10.0, then 10.1 and now it seems to work just fine. Do I like computers or hate them?

Dear Sir/Madam, I have installed OS 10.1 on my iMac and when I log on as administrator every thing seems to work well until I try and start the Classic mode. At that stage I receive the message "You do not have sufficient permissions to run Classic from /System/Library/CoreServices...
