save the hd (can install as slave in many other newer models), and sell the rest for parts (pc133 ram is still worth something, cards, case w/power supply etc....) to offset the cost of a newer box....

did you try to open it with 'graphic converter'? it opens a lot of problem files and lets you re-save in a variety of formats including psd and tif that photoshop will read....

I had the same thing happen on a 6400 several years ago - turned out to be a thermal problem - it would start and all would be fine until things warmed up... turns out the fan was dead. Put in a new fan for about ten bucks, and worked fine ever after....
