NIXGEEK, Hmmm. By system, do you mean OS? It's 10.4.4. The Machine is a Dual 867 MHz PowerPC G4; 1 MB L3 cache per processor. Does that help? I just looked up "firmware" for MAX OSX on versiontracker.com and it listed different firmware updates for different things...like Bluetooth...

Hi there. I just updated from 10.4.3 to 10.4.4 hoping that this was one of the fixes...it's not. CDs (mostly music CDs) won't mount. Sometimes I hear them "spin up." Sometimes not, but they usually do. They don't appear on the desktop. I thought that a glitch may make them visible only...
