    xroach for Apple's X11 Server

This doesn't look as if it'll take much time; the build is as follows: To build: cc -o xroach roach.c -lX11 [-lsocketorwhatever] [-lm] [-l...] The entire readme file is pasted below: README Xroach - A game of skill. Try to find the roaches under your...

    xroach for Apple's X11 Server

OK. I've got the xroach source code (I think). Does anyone know: 1. How to determine for sure if this is the source code? 2. How to compile the source code to run under Apple's X11 server?

    xroach for Apple's X11 Server

Whoa! Stop the presses! I looked more closely at the folder (it was downloaded from the FreeBSD site) and it contains a "UNIX executable" file. This is not the binary. Won't this run in X11? If so, how does one execute it?

    "Bad key length"

Basically, yes. I also had the option for him to just fix it for $50, but I sprang for an extra $30 to own the tool he used. Teach a man to fish and all that...

    "Bad key length"

There was indeed a bad key length, repaired by Greg at the Mall of America Apple Store. He qouted me $50, but I bought the program he used to do it (Alsoft's DiskWarrior), so they waived the service fee. Kewl!

    "Bad key length"

Do you think the Apple Store Genius Bar would be able/willing to fix this for a fee?

    "Bad key length"

Thank you, DeltaMac. Even though I'm asking everyone again, this was very helpful. Is there anyone out there who knows what bad key length means specifically?

The Most Important UNIX Program Ever Written

Giaguara: see your quote of me above "xroach is *obviously* not the most important UNIX program ever written; take a look at my signature below, including the hyperlink to get a look into the scary world of my sense of humor." My signature in a reference to my character, not to the content...

The Most Important UNIX Program Ever Written

I'm talking, of course, about xroach, easily the most important UNIX program ever written. Does anyone, ANYone, else want to recompile the source to GCC 3.x, i.e., 10.2/Jaguar? I'm thinking it would work fine with Apple's X server, but...? OK, so who's with me?

How do i turn off virtual mem in os x??

EVERYONE: what about ramBunctious? If you have enough physical RAM so that your machine only makes one swapfile (I Photoshop a LOT and get there with *only* 1GB), wouldn't it make sense to put the UNIX swapfile, as well as other things like Mozilla cache and all of SETI, on a RAM disk?

    10.2.2/Dual 1.25 gHz CD-RW Burning Issue

He'p! He'p! My brand-new BAMF PowerMac is having trouble with CD-RW discs (Memorex standard-grade 1x-4x). I can get all the way through using the Finder to burn them, but the verification fails, and the machine then thinks that the disk contains no readable areas. Any thoughts?
