Thanks, but it dosn't work. i've tried all sorts of things. I'm guessing that the back up isn't a compleet back up, or not all the files are transfering for some reason.

OK here's the problem. My hard disk failed on my power book 12". Luckily I made a back up the week before. Now I am trying to restore my old settings and applications (etc.) to the new hard drive, and it's not working. When I start up I get to the user log-in, and the user name and password...
