    iBook motherboard problems

I've got through two 5300's and an ibook g4, my sisters got through a 5300 and her ibook g3 is on its last legs. The desktops are great, never had a single problem with any of mine but the laptops (and the guys at the repair place agree with me) always seem to be slightly dodgy.

    iBook motherboard problems

I did actually ask in my Apple Centre about a free repair as a sign of good will (I've been a customer there for years) but was told no chance and the quote on a new motherboard was £550 with £100 labour costs (overall about $1100 U.S. money). By the way anybody heard the rumours that the early...

OS X will run on a beige G3, just make sure you have at least 512 megs of RAM. It will be terribly slow but I got it working on my old iMac 233 mhz so you shouldnt have any problems. Good luck

How Much RAM Should I Buy for my MacPro?

The best rule of thumb with RAM is that you can never have too much. Stick in as much as you can afford.

    running temprature

I agree that the fan idea is daft, these temperatures are fine. The first indication you should get with an overheating problem would be crashes and lockups.

    GeForce FX 5200 64MB vs ATI Radeon 9800 Pro G5 Edition 256MB

Getting the Radeon 9800 would be a wise move if it is at a good price because it is a far superior card. The fx 5200 was released as a budget low end card (in 2003 i believe) whilst the 9800 pro although no longer high - end still has a good deal of power behind it. The extra vram will also...
